Did Drishyam 3 Break Box Office Records Worldwide?

The release of a highly anticipated sequel always raises the same question for moviegoers: can it outdo the original? For fans following the Indian crime thriller franchise, the final chapter answers that with hard numbers. Within its first nine days in cinemas following its October 2, 2026 release, the Hindi installment collected a massive ₹446.80 crore worldwide. As the box office returns piled up, members of the Superace88 community—many of whom appreciate a high-stakes narrative—watched the film's financial milestones accumulate with intense interest.

The story actually closed its circle in two distinct cinematic spaces. The Malayalam version, directed by Jeethu Joseph, arrived earlier on May 21, 2026. Featuring Mohanlal in his iconic role, it generated ₹237.70 crore at the box office before hitting Amazon Prime Video for audiences in the Philippines. Mohanlal himself extended congratulations to the Hindi production team when their version launched, acknowledging how beautifully both productions concluded the beloved suspense story.

Directed by Abhishek Pathak, the Hindi adaptation starring Ajay Devgn and Tabu showed remarkable staying power. Domestic market performance remained steady well into its second week. Even when the second Monday saw a slight dip in single-day takings, the following Tuesday brought a sharp 41.7% increase. Across India, theaters maintained over 10,000 screenings, with evening occupancy holding near 28%. The momentum did not fade just because the opening weekend had passed.

Overseas markets responded with equal enthusiasm. The film became Ajay Devgn's first project to cross the ₹114 crore mark internationally. This milestone firmly established his footprint with international viewers, pushing the total past its predecessors to become the highest-grossing entry in the entire franchise.
